Dye Sublimation

Dye-sub, in our opinion, is the most luxurious lanyard print style option. They are the most economical for small and medium quantities.

The lanyard design is digitally printed with full colour on one or two sides of the smooth polyester cloth. They can be 15mm, 20mm, and 25mm in width and have a wide array of attachment options.

We recommend our most popular dye sub-option, A 20mm width smooth polyester cloth, full colour both sides, detachable buckle (side release), safety breakaway with a heavy duty swivel hook attachment.

Available Materials:

  • Smooth polyester

Screen Print

This print style is undoubtedly our most common choice for custom lanyards due to their economical cost for medium to large quantities.

Ink is passed through a silk screen template and applied to the material. This method gives you the option of up to four colours. For a clearer result, we recommend having a transparent print under the screen print (known as offset print) which allows for a higher quality end result.

Our most popular screen printed lanyard is a 15mm flat polyester lanyard with a safety breakaway and standard swivel hook.

Available Materials:

  • Polyester
  • Reinforced polyester
  • Nylon
  • Flat tube
  • Satin
  • Eco-friendly
  • PVC
  • Reflective

Offset Print

This method of print is our highest quality print style. Offset print produces the finest lines and details on a lanyard.

A transparent Print is applied prior to screen printing, which as explained above in screen print, is ink passed through a silk screen template with the choice of 1-4 colours.

Our most common offset printed lanyard is a 15mm reinforced polyester lanyard with a safety breakaway and heavy duty swivel hook.

Available Materials:

  • Polyester
  • Reinforced polyester
  • Nylon
  • Flat tube
  • Satin
  • Eco-friendly
  • PVC

Woven

Woven lanyards are our most uncommon in the custom lanyard world however they have the same lead time and similar pricing as other lanyard printing options, with the aesthetic being an acquired taste.

Dyed Polyester threads are woven together into a pattern (or to create text) similar to that of embroidering, with the exception the woven lanyard is flat. Due to the nature of this lanyard type, the reverse side of the cloth is inverted, however double sided is achievable via two woven lanyards sewn back to back, increasing the overall thickness and costs.

Our most popular option for woven lanyards is 20mm polyester with a safety breakaway and alligator clip.

Available Materials:

  • Polyester
  • Satin
  • Flat Tube

Material Options

Lanyard Attachments

There are so many different types of lanyard attachments that it’s simply impossible to list them all. Using the knowledge we have collected over the years, we have put together a list of the most common attachments.

The best way to decide the attachment that is right for you is to determine who will be wearing the lanyard and what the objective of the lanyard is. If the wearer is your employee and the objective is to hold their building access card, then a strap clip would be ideal to connect to a cardholder or directly to the access card.

Check out our Attachment Guide for more ideas on what would best suit you.

Attachment Guide

Attachments are as important as the print type and material used. They determine how the wearer will utilise the lanyard.

Employee use for ID cards:

  • Safety breakaway – this is for WHS purposes.
  • Split ring/keyring – this allows the lanyard to easily attach directly to an ID card or cardholder and reduce the impact on the ID card or cardholder itself
  • Strap clip – This allows employees to add personal items such as keys, styled keyrings, mobile phones and any other items that can be connected to a keyring.

Employees use for access control cards:

  • Safety breakaway – this is for WHS purposes.
  • Retractable reel with strap – this allows the employee to retract the access card out to a reader and automatically retract the access card.

Promotional lanyard for prospective customers:

This is most likely the hardest decision as it all depends on the research of your target audience.

  • What common interests do they have?
  • What pain points could they have that a lanyard could fix?
  • What could they use it for?

All of these questions and more will help to ensure your promotional lanyard stays around their neck or at the least is used daily. For instance one of our team uses a lanyard to help find her keys in her handbag, so a keyring is definitely an attachment she needs from a lanyard.

Safety Options

Safety is a huge concern in Australia and sometimes WHS rules dictate what people can and can’t wear. There is a range of safety options available for customer lanyards.

Safety breakaways

The most common preventative measure against wearers being harmed by lanyards being caught on or in objects or machinery is a safety breakaway. The safety breakaway will come apart when pulling force is applied. It is possible for two safety breakaways to increase wearer safety.

Reflective cloth

Similar to safety vests with reflective strips, A reflective layer on a lanyard is the perfect solution for low visibility areas such as docks, warehouses, and nighttime road work areas. The reflective cloth will reflect any light making the whereabouts of the wearer more visible.
