What are Multi-Application Credentials?

Multi-Application Credentials allow for a single credential to be used across multiple applications and systems. Enhancing security and simplifying user access management by reducing the need for multiple credentials. These credentials can be integrated with various identity systems and visitor management systems to provide seamless access for staff members and protect and areas and resources.

HID Low-Frequency Credentials

What are Low-Frequency Credentials?

Low-Frequency Credentials  operate on the 125 kHz frequency band, and are an older access control technology. They are generally considered less secure compared to high-frequency credentials due to lacking encryption, making them more susceptible to security vulnerabilities such as “sniffing,” where unauthorised devices can steal credentials. These credentials provide their stored information to any device they perceive as a card reader, which malicious actors can easily mimic 

Despite these security vulnerabilities, low-frequency credentials are still widely used today due to their lower cost and compatibility with many existing access control systems in the market. They are often chosen for applications with a low risk of credential theft.

HID High-Frequency Credentials

What are High-Frequency Credentials?

High-Frequency Credentials operate on the 13.56 MHz frequency band. They are widely used in modern access control systems due to their enhanced security features. Unlike low-frequency credentials, high-frequency credentials implement safeguards to avoid vulnerabilities such as “sniffing,” where unauthorised devices can steal credentials. High-frequency cards wait for a challenge prompt from a compatible reader before revealing credentials, ensuring a more secure interaction. These versatile and future-proof credentials support Mobile Access via Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (NFC).
