Take that one step further from your standard plain lanyard with Custom Lanyards. Customise your lanyards with your brand colours and logo.

You can select from various print styles, materials, and attachments.

Not sure what the best options are for you and your business? Our guide below will help you decide.

Print Styles

Dye-sub is the most luxurious lanyard print style option whilst still being the most economical print style for small and medium quantities. Your logo, font or design is digitally printed in full colour on one or two sides of the smooth polyester cloth. We provide dye-sub lanyards in 15mm, 20mm, and 25mm widths and have a wide array of attachment options.

Our recommendation: Our most popular dye-sublimation option is a 20mm wide smooth polyester cloth lanyard with full-colour print on both sides, a detachable buckle (side release), a safety breakaway and a heavy-duty swivel hook attachment.

Available Materials: Dye sublimation lanyards are only available in smooth polyester.

This print style is undoubtedly our most common choice for custom lanyards due to their economical cost for medium to large quantities. Ink is passed through a silk screen template and applied to the material. This method gives you the option of up to four colours. We recommend having a transparent print under the screen print (offset print), which allows for a higher-quality result.

Our recommendation: Our most popular screen-printed lanyard is a 15mm flat polyester lanyard with a safety breakaway and standard swivel hook.

Available Materials:

  • Polyester
  • Reinforced polyester
  • Nylon
  • Flat tube
  • Satin
  • Eco-friendly
  • PVC
  • Reflective

Offset print produces the finest lines and details on a lanyard. A transparent print (offset print) is applied prior to screen printing. You get a choice of up to 4 colours. Offset printing is great for larger quantity orders over 500.

Our recommendation: Our most popular offset printed lanyard is a 15mm wide reinforced polyester lanyard with a safety breakaway and heavy-duty swivel hook.

Available Materials:

  • Polyester
  • Reinforced polyester
  • Nylon
  • Flat tube
  • Satin
  • Eco-friendly
  • PVC
  • Reflective

Woven lanyards are the most unique and uncommon in the custom lanyard world. However, they have the same lead time and similar pricing as other lanyard printing options, with the aesthetic being an acquired taste. Dyed Polyester threads are woven into a pattern (or to create text) similar to embroidering, except the woven lanyard is flat. Due to this lanyard type’s nature, the cloth’s reverse side is inverted. Double-sided is achievable via two woven lanyards sewn back to back. However, this increases the overall thickness and costs.

Our recommendation: Our most popular option for woven print is a 20mm wide polyester lanyard with a safety breakaway and alligator clip.

Available Materials:

  • Polyester
  • Satin
  • Flat Tube

Fabrics

When it comes to choosing material for custom lanyards, polyester is in the lead. Polyester threads are woven tightly to produce a flat lanyard with a slightly ribbed surface. Other types of polyester lanyards include reinforced, smooth and flat tubular. The polyester can be custom dyed to a specific PMS or Pantone colour (within 5% difference). Please refer to “Colour Specifications” which you can find under “Artwork Specifications & Requirements” for full details.

  • Bamboo (Eco-friendly & sustainable choice)
  • Cork (Eco-friendly & sustainable choice)  NEW!
  • Recycled Polyester (Sustainable choice)

What is the difference between eco-friendly & sustainable?

Eco-friendly is precisely as it sounds: a material that is friendly to our ecosystem. Eco-friendly materials are made from resources that come from our ecosystem itself. Some examples include bamboo fabric, which is made of pulp from the bamboo plant. Another example is cork, which is made of bark tissue from cork oak trees. Cork and bamboo are both great examples of a material that is both eco-friendly and sustainable because they both have a small ecological and carbon footprint and are recyclable and biodegradable. Eco-friendly materials are essentially non-toxic and natural, so should they end up back in our ecosystem, they will easily biodegrade.

Sustainable materials are materials made, used and disposed of in a sustainable way – but are not always eco-friendly – to minimise their negative impact on the environment and human health. For example, a lanyard made of recycled polyester is sustainable because the polyester threads are made from plastic, such as plastic bottles, collected from our landfills and the ocean. However, whether recycled or virgin, polyester is still polyester—a manufactured material that cannot biodegrade should it end up in our environment.

Just because something is sustainable does not also make it eco-friendly, and vice versa. At ID Supplies, we believe it’s essential for our customers to know and understand these labels to help them make informed and empowered choices that are healthier for our earth and our future.

Other materials options we offer include;

  • Satin
  • Reflective
  • PVC

Attachments & Safety Add-on's

Deciding your attachment type is as important as the print type and material used. The attachment you decide on determines how the wearer will utilise the lanyard, and how the item you choose to hold behaves – whether it rotates or sits flat against the wearer. The best way to decide the attachment that is right for you is to determine who will be wearing the lanyard and what the objective of the lanyard is. E.g. If the lanyards are for your employees to wear daily to hold their building access card, a retractable reel with a strap clip would be ideal to hold the cardholder or connect directly to the access card.

There are many different types of lanyard attachments. Using the knowledge we have collected over the years, we have compiled a list of the most common attachment options below.

Hooks
  • Swivel Hook – Rotates
  • Heavy Duty Swivel Hook -Rotates
  • Swivel Latch Hook – Rotates

Clips
  • Strap Clip – usually attached to a split ring or retractable reel
  • Reinforced Strap Clip – usually attached to a split ring or retractable reel
  • Alligator Clip – Sits flat
  • Carabiner Clip – Sits flat
  • Lobster Clip – Rotates
  • Dog Clip – Rotates

Other attachment options
  • Split ring (Keyring) – Sits flat
  • Retractable Reel – Sits flat
  • Detachable phone loop – Sits flat

Safety in the workplace is a priority in Australia, and most of the time, WHS rules dictate what people can and can’t wear. Safety add-ons available for custom lanyards include;

Safety breakaways

A safety breakaway is the best preventative against wearers being injured or choked by lanyards caught on or in objects or machinery. The safety breakaway will come apart when pulling force is applied. We always recommend two safety breakaways on a lanyard to increase wearer safety.

Reflective cloth

Like safety vests with reflective strips, a reflective layer on a lanyard is the perfect solution for low visibility areas such as docks, warehouses, and night shift road workers. The reflective cloth will reflect any light, making the wearer’s whereabouts more visible.
